Owing to the surge in usage of electronic gadgets, kids today are spending less time on developing their fitness, life skills and connecting with nature. Their physical contact & intimacy with nature on a day-to-day basis, is fading. Sedentary pursuits like watching TV, surfing the Internet & easy access to junk food is further contributing in increasing this gap.
Being active is a key component of good health for all school-age kids. It will strengthen their muscles and bones and ensure that their bodies are capable of doing normal kid stuff, like lifting a backpack or running a race. It also will help control their weight and decrease their risk of chronic illnesses, such as high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.
Fitventure – For Juniors is designed to address these issues. It is aimed at helping them imbibe fitness as a lifestyle at an early age and also educate them about how fitness training is so important to excel in any sport. It also includes activities that will help build character, improve cognitive thinking, team building & decision making abilities. Fitventure for Juniors is a unique opportunity for kids to connect with nature & themselves in a fun and informative manner.
Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) – FMS is the basic pre-requisite to excel in any sport as the most important & common factor in all sports is ‘Movement’. The FMS session will focus on drills that will help the kids understand the importance of different skills in a sport like Agility, Balance, Co-ordination, Endurance etc.
Fire making, Tent pitching & Compass reading – This session will teach the kids how to start fire using unconventional methods like using sunlight/spark/chemical, tent pitching & compass reading. This builds confidence in kids as they learn new skills and make them feel they are capable to do things on their own. Campers learn not only about themselves, but also about relating and interacting successfully with their peers. Kids quickly become aware of their physical prowess and their ability to challenge themselves in various ways.
Fitness competition – Kids can be fit even if they’re not winning sports trophies. The fitness competition will be in the form of fun based team games testing different aspects of a kids fitness. These games will be innovative in nature hence giving a brilliant opportunity to kids to strategize, showcase their leadership skills and build team spirit.
Scavenger hunt – Many children, as parents could likely attest to, have a natural urge to explore – which is easily satiated by a good Scavenger Hunt. The Scavenger Hunt will involve the kids to use a compass (hence testing the skills they learnt the previous day) to scavenge around and search for all of the items on the list. The team who finds everything on the list first or finds the most items before the time is up wins.
